Qualitative and quantitative research are defined based on the type of data they collect. Whilst qualitative research gathers data about lived experiences, emotions and behaviours, quantitative data is numerical and aims to uncover patterns.

Your resource list is a good place to start looking for information about qualitative and quantitative research methods. There are also numerous books within the library focusing on this.

If you are unsure whether a research article is qualitative or quantitative you should first look at the methodology sections of the paper and then check the results. (Remember some studies will be mixed methods and use a mix of both qualitative and quantitative methods).
