Borrowing books

The Hive is Worcester's joint university and public library.  Our short video (0:43 min) shows you how to borrow books from The Hive using your student or staff card.   If you don't have a University of Worcester student card because you are a studying a University of Worcester course with a partner organisation, see your partner page for details of how to borrow books.  It is your responsibility to return the books you have borrowed on time.  You can return your books to The Hive or any public library in Worcestershire. You can check your library account online (video 0:40 min)  to see when your books are due to be returned.

Reserving books

You can reserve books that are in The Hive or in any Worcestershire Library.  You may wish to reserve a book if

  • the book you want is out on loan and you want to get in the queue
  • you've found the book you want on the library catalogue but can't get in to collect it today
  • you want to collect the book from a different Worcestershire library

Reservations are free for University of Worcester staff and students.

Our video shows you how to reserve a book (1:44 min).

I'm returning my books to The Hive, what do I need to do?

When you arrive at The Hive turn left immediately inside the left of the building to find the book returns machine.  In The Hive, this is a different machine to the ones you use to borrow books.  Place the books in the book returns machine one at a time following the instructions on the screen.  When you have finished you can get a receipt to show that you returned your books.  If you have any queries about how to return your books, please talk to one of the Customer Service Advisors in The Hive wearing black tops and Hive lanyards.
