It can be difficult to decide which articles to choose for use in an assignment or literature review. Ask yourself these questions about the articles you have found:

  • What type of article is it? (Primary, secondary, a book review etc…)? Does this match what you are permitted to use?
  • Does it answer your question?
  • Is it relevant or applicable to current UK practice? This doesn’t mean it has to be UK based research.

Make sure you check the requirements in your assignment brief. You may also find our evaluating sources advice helpful, particularly tools like the CRAAP test. Think about your own inclusion and exclusion criteria and evaluate whether each article fits this.
